Transfer Section – Exports Subsection (Tracking Responses Sent to Another Device)

Overview

The Exports subsection in the Transfer section allows users to track survey responses that have been sent from one device to another via Bluetooth. This feature ensures data continuity and proper management of responses that haven’t yet been uploaded to the server. It helps the user maintain visibility over the responses they have shared, monitor the server upload status, and manage any upload failures.

How It Works:

  1. View Exported Responses:
    • The Exports tab lists all responses that have been sent to another device via Bluetooth.
  2. Upload Responses to the Server:
    • Once the device has an internet connection, users can upload the responses to the server directly from the Exports tab. Once uploaded, the status of the response will change to “Uploaded to server” (Green color).
  3. Handle Upload Failures:
    • If the response fails to upload to the server, the status will change to “Failed to upload to server.” You can retry uploading or handle any errors causing the failure.
  4. Check for Existing Responses:
    • If the response already exists on the server, the status will change to “Already uploaded to server” (Green color). This prevents duplicate uploads and ensures data integrity.
  5. Metadata Display:
    • Each response listed in the Exports tab includes the following metadata:
      • ID of the user who filled the response.
      • ID of the survey the response belongs to.
      • ID of the response itself.
      • ID of the user(s) who sent or exported the response via Bluetooth (this is especially important for logging and tracking if the response has been shared multiple times).
  6. Response Retention:
    • Responses in the Exports tab can never be deleted from the device unless the user manually clears the app cache or app data. This ensures that all exported data remains traceable and secure.

Key Features:

  • Track Exported Responses: Keep an organized list of all survey responses that have been shared with other devices but haven’t yet been uploaded to the server.
  • Upload to Server: Users can easily upload responses to the server from this tab once an internet connection is available.
  • Status Monitoring: Each response is assigned a status (e.g., “Uploaded to server,” “Pending upload to server,” or “Failed to upload to server”), helping users track the progress of their uploads.
  • Prevent Duplicate Uploads: If the response already exists on the server, the system automatically changes the status to “Already uploaded to server” to avoid multiple uploads.
  • Bluetooth Transfer Logs: The metadata of each response includes information about the user(s) who sent the response, ensuring traceability for log purposes.

Tips:

  • Check Internet Connection: Ensure you have a stable internet connection before attempting to upload responses to the server from the Exports tab.
  • Retry Failed Uploads: If a response fails to upload, you can retry once an internet connection is restored. The system will keep a record of the failed attempts.
  • Keep Track of Metadata: The metadata, such as the user ID and response ID, is helpful for organizing and reviewing survey responses.
